Coming out of those long winter months to inspiring video shoots feeds the soul
There’s nothing better than leaving a shoot and feeling inspired afterwards. Coming out of the winter months where it’s quiet and kicking off a busy year with not one but TWO shoots that left me feeling motivated, excited, and just itching to start editing just reassures that I’m doing what I’m supposed to be doing. I won’t lie I’ve entertained the idea of looking for a full-time videography position at an established company. Especially, during COVID-19 I was searching for other positions. When things get challenging or scary I tend to doubt myself and look into other opportunities. Luckily, I have my people who help me challenge that thought, push me out of my comfort zone, and encourage me to keep going. Both of these shoots were planned out so well and I loved seeing the creative process unfold in each one.
First one was a back to brunch promo for MI Drag Brunch. Some of you may be familiar with Drag Brunch but for those who are not it is a Drag Show Brunch experience. There are four ‘brunchettes’ that perform and at times there are guest performers as well. Like many others they haven’t been able to perform for brunch since before COVID-19. With the weather getting nicer and restaurants opening up more capacity, they are making a return! YAY! We wanted to create a promo as they prepare to start doing brunches again. What I love about working with these Queens is that they all know how to work it for one, but they are also creatives. I enjoy working with people where I can bounce ideas off them and get their input and we can create something even more amazing. It’s a team effort. There was a scene we were shooting in a very glamourous stairway and they all looked AMAZING and the lighting was (chefs kiss) on point. Everything flowed so well, and I can’t wait to share it with you all!
The second shoot was for Charli McGee’s line of custom wigs. Watching everyone in their element and seeing it all come together was a videographer’s dream! Or maybe just my dream! But seriously… watching the makeup, hair, wardrobe, photos, and models all come together made it fun and easy to capture the ins and outs of everything that went into this photoshoot. I was blown away and again I can’t wait to share the final product! Look for some teasers here and there ;)
These shoots just really got me out of my creative funk and wanted to share this experience in hopes that it may inspire one of you out there, looking for some inspiration to keep fighting and keep creating. <3
