Becca Andrews
Becca and her now husband, Elliott, got engaged in London back in October of 2018. They are both actors in NYC and with that comes a busy schedule. They are constantly on the go with work and that calls for traveling to a variety of states. One can imagine that with a schedule like that it can be challenging to nail down a wedding date.
They landed on September 2020 because that summer they were going to be in Legally Blonde which was showing at the Mason Street Warehouse theatre in Saugatuck, MI. Becca and Elliott thought it would be perfect to get married following that production and they had a close friend who had offered up their property for the wedding. As we all know, COVID-19 popped into our lives beginning of 2020- that changed their plans completely.
“We were both so exhausted and heartbroken by the weight of this pandemic in a lot of different ways- the biggest one losing our careers- but then the planning of the wedding and then the cancelling of the wedding it just hurt so badly,” Becca Andrews stated.
Becca works at a Bridal Salon in NYC and one day a woman came in and was talking about how she is using a company called Simply Eloped to coordinate her wedding. With already being engaged for a couple of years and going through the ups and downs of a pandemic Becca and Elliott decided to elope in Hawaii. Their story is magical and one that I feel a lot of people can resonate with. We live in a world where pressure is put on us to have a traditional wedding that sometimes we need to take a step back and ask ourselves what we want. With the support from their family and friends they began the process of working with Simply Eloped to organize their wedding. The coordinator took a huge weight off their shoulders and put the focus back on Becca and Elliott. They traveled to Hawaii and were married on January 2nd, 2021.
“Weddings can be a bit awkward—you’re opening your heart up to all these people. You’re being very vulnerable and it’s really intense,” Becca said. She goes on to state that she loved that it was just the two of them, their photographer, and officiant in Hawaii. They both wrote their own vows, and for them being in the moment where it was just the two of them sharing their vows made this experience so special.
“Hearing Elliott share his heart with me was incredible and made me remember the point of marriage. It’s not about all this fluff it’s about these two people who are making this commitment to each other and why,” stated Becca.
They plan on having a celebration in the future when they are able to include all their friends and family. By having the marriage portion done they are able to plan a celebration that is more relaxed and stress free.
Special thanks to Becca Andrews for sharing her experience with eloping and planning a wedding in this time. If you are considering elopement checkout, Simply Eloped for more information on what they offer.
